As a general rule the curb should be placed directly on the roof support members.

Curbs should be sloped to avert water ponding. Roof curb shall be internally reinforced with angles 48 on center and factory installed wood nailer. If the roof curb will be mounted on a new building it can be assembled at any convenient location and installed as soon as the roof support members are in place. They can be selected to fit the specific type of roof such as flat pitched or ridged.
